Install MIIS Management Pack for MOM

To enable automated management of Microsoft Identity Integration Server (MIIS), you will need to install the MIIS Management Pack on your Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) server in your Hosted Messaging and Collaboration Services infrastructure. However, before you can install the MIIS 2003 Management Pack, you must first download it by performing the following procedure:

Procedure DCDOM.38: To download the MIIS 2003 Management Pack

  1. Open Microsoft Internet Explorer.
  2. Browse to the Microsoft MIIS 2003 Downloads Web site.
  3. Extract the management pack from the self-extracting archive file.

Note

At the time of the writing of this documentation, the only Management Pack that exists for MIIS 2003 is one created for Microsoft Operations Manager 2000 Service Pack 1.

Included in the MIIS 2003 Management Pack download package is a Management Pack Guide document. It is highly advised that your operations staff read the contents of this document so they are familiar with the capabilities of the MIIS 2003 Management Pack.

The procedure that follows assumes that you have downloaded the Management Pack and have it available for installation:

Procedure DCDOM.39: To install the MIIS Management Pack

  1. Log on to MOM01 using the MOMService account and open the MOM Administrator Console.

    Note

    You cannot perform this operation using the MOM Web Console.

  2. Expand Microsoft Operations Manager, right-click Management Packs, and then select Import/Export Management Pack.

  3. At the Welcome screen, click Next.

  4. Select Import Management Packs and/or Reports, and then click Next.

  5. In the Select a Folder and Choose Import Type dialog box, click Browse, and then navigate to the folder where you uncompressed the MIIS 2003 Management Pack (for example, C:\MgmtPack). Click OK.

  6. Under Type of Import, select Import Management Packs only, and then click Next to continue.

  7. In the Select Management Packs dialog box, select the Microsoft Identity Integration Server.akm file, select Replace Existing Management Pack, and make sure that the Backup Existing Management Pack option is selected. Click Next.

  8. In the Completing the Management Pack Import Export Wizard dialog box, click Finish.

  9. When the import completes, click Close.

  10. Close the MOM Administrator Console.

  11. When finished, you can log off the MOM01 computer.
