Autodiscover Web Site Configuration Steps

To allow a hoster to create a single Web site to support all their hosted customers in the Microsoft Solution for Hosted Messaging and Collaboration , the following configuration steps to create an "Autodiscover Redirect" Web site are:

  1. Create a DNS record for the URL (for example, autodiscover.fabrikam.com) that points to the Client Access Server (CAS) server(s).
  2. Create a new Internet-facing Web site on a unique IP (for example, autodiscoverredirect.fabrikam.com).
  3. Create a virtual directory on this Web site called Autodiscover.
  4. Create an empty file in this directory called autodiscover.xml.
  5. Through Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager, configure that file to redirect to https://autodiscover.fabrikam.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml.
  6. For each required hosted domain, create a CNAME record in DNS (for example, autodiscover.alpineskihouse.com) that points to autodiscoverredirect.fabrikam.com.
