Port Openings
Front-end servers running Microsoft Exchange Server and clients connect over the Internet through a firewall. The following table lists the ports that must be opened for clients to connect to front-end Exchange servers through a firewall.

443 | HTTPS | To enable Microsoft Outlook clients to connect to front-end Exchange servers using RPC over HTTP; also for Microsoft Outlook Web Access (OWA), Outlook Mobile Access (OMA), and ActiveSync clients to connect using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). |
80 | HTTP | To enable Outlook clients to connect to front-end Exchange servers using RPC over HTTP; also for OWA, OMA, and ActiveSync clients to connect using HTTP. |
110 | POP3 | To enable front-end Exchange server connections for clients using Post Office Protocol version 3 (POP3). |
143 | IMAP4 | To enable front-end Exchange server connections for clients using Internet Message Access Protocol version 4 rev 1 (IMAP4). |
25 | SMTP | To enable front-end Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) servers to route messages. |
