WSUS Server Architecture
The following figure shows how the Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) server architecture is a secure and scalable system that provides:
- Simple-to-use Web UI - Allows administration from any computer
- Synchronization engine - Downloads updates from Microsoft Update
- Microsoft SQL Server-based database - Holds all data other than content (software files)
- Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) - Used to efficiently utilize the network
