Access the Internet from Windows Essential Business Server

To test the Internet connection from the servers and the client computers on the Windows EBS network, do the following:

  • Verify that the Security Server can access the Internet.
  • Verify that you have configured the Security Server on port 8080 as the proxy server for the other computers on the network.

To verify access the Internet from a server

  1. Log on to the Management Server by using an account that is a member of the Administrators group.

  2. Open Internet Explorer on the Management Server, and then type https://www.msn.com in the address bar. Verify that the MSN Web site appears.

  3. Type https://local.live.com in the address bar. Verify that the Live Search Web site appears.

  4. Repeat steps 1 through 3 on the Messaging Server.

To verify access the Internet from a client computer

  1. Log on to a client computer by using any domain account.

  2. Open Internet Explorer on the client computer, and then type https://www.msn.com in the address bar. Verify that the MSN Web site appears.

  3. Type https://local.live.com in the address bar. Verify that the Live Search Web site appears.
