Anti-spam automatic updates for Exchange Server 2007 cannot be configured

Problem   Anti-spam automatic updates for Exchange Server 2007 cannot be configured.

Features affected   Real-time anti-spam signature and filter updates are not enabled for Exchange Server 2007. As a result, Exchange Server recovers updates only periodically.

Solution   To resolve this issue, you must manually configure anti-spam automatic updates for Exchange Server 2007.

Important

Pre-requisite tasks   Before you begin, ensure that the following pre-requisite tasks are completed:

  1. Exchange Server 2007 is installed. For instructions about how to install Exchange Server 2007, see “Exchange Server 2007 cannot be installed” at the Microsoft Web site (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=119471).

  2. Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange Server is installed. For instructions about how to install Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange Server, see “Virus protection for e-mail cannot be installed” at the Microsoft Web site (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=141983).

To configure anti-spam automatic updates for Exchange Server 2007

  1. Click Start, click All Programs, and then click Microsoft Exchange Server 2007.

  2. Right-click Exchange Management Shell, and then click Run as administrator.

  3. In the User Account Control window, click Continue.

  4. In the Exchange Management Shell window, type: Enable-AntispamUpdates -UpdateMode:Automatic -MicrosoftUpdate:RequestNotifyInstall -IPReputationUpdatesEnabled:$true -SpamSignatureUpdatesEnabled:$true.
