Choosing a domain name provider

Applies To: Windows SBS 2008

You should choose a domain name provider that supports the domain name extension that you want to use. You should also choose a provider that offers the services that you need, such as the ability to purchase a Trusted Web certificate to secure your Web site traffic. The Internet Address Management Wizard includes a list of qualified providers that you can use; however, you can use any domain name provider.

When you use the Internet Address Management Wizard to register an Internet domain name, the wizard presents you with a list of domain name providers that can service your request. A link to the each provider’s Web site is included. Click the link to obtain information about the services and prices that are offered by the provider.

Note

Some domain name providers serve broad international regions and others serve smaller markets. Because of this, some providers may not offer a Web site that is translated into your language of preference.
