Troubleshooting the Monitoring Pack for Configuration Manager 2007

There are a number of actions that you can take to troubleshoot product issues:

  • Ensure that Operations Manager 2007 is installed properly.

  • Ensure that Operations Manager 2007 configuration settings are set properly.

  • Ensure that all System Center Configuration Manager 2007 systems have been configured properly with the Operations Management registry key.

  • Ensure that all managed Configuration Manager 2007 Provider and Configuration Manager 2007 site server computers have the Operations Manager 2007 agent installed and are enabled to proxy for other computers.

  • Verify that your import of the monitoring pack is complete and successful.

  • Ensure that all relevant entities are enabled, such as rules and monitors.

  • Ensure that the computer groups are populated with the correct computers. You can use the Authoring mode Groups node in the console to perform this inspection.

  • Ensure that all agents are healthy.

  • Ensure that the heartbeat interval is set properly and that the rules are propagated to the Operations Manager 2007 agent computer.

  • Ensure that dependent services, including Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI), World Wide Web Publishing Service, Internet Information Services (IIS) Admin Service, Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS), Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), Windows Deployment Services Server (WDS), Trivial FTP Daemon (TFTPD), and MSSQLServer, are installed and running properly on Configuration Manager 2007 site systems.

  • Ensure that all performance counters are properly installed.

  • Ensure that scripts have sufficient permissions to access the resources they require should the Action Account be something other than Local System.
