Installing Windows Server Backup

Applies To: Windows SBS 2008

To run Windows SBS 2008 Backup, the Windows Server Backup and Command-line Tools features must be installed on the server. Windows SBS 2008 installs the Windows Server Backup features by default. However, you may need to reinstall these features if they become uninstalled or nonfunctional.

To install Windows Server Backup

  1. Click Start, and then click Server Manager. In the left pane, click Features, and then in the right pane click Add Features. The Add Features Wizard appears.

  2. In the Add Features Wizard, on the Select Features page, expand Windows Server Backup Features, and then select the check boxes for Windows Server Backup and Command-line Tools. If you are prompted to do so, select the Windows PowerShell check box also.

  3. Click Next.

  4. On the Confirm Installation Selections page, verify your selection, and then click Install.
