Add Exchange connectors

Important

Installing an Exchange connector requires that the Network News Transfer Protocol (NNTP) service for Internet Information Services (IIS) is running. To verify the service is running, click Start, click Run, and then type Services.msc. Ensure Status is listed as Started and Startup type is listed as Automatic.

  1. Insert Windows Small Business Server 2003 Disc 2 into the drive.
  2. Click Start, click Run, and then type D: \Exchsrvr65\Setup\i386\Setup.exe, where D: is the letter of your drive.
  3. Click Next to begin the Microsoft Exchange Installation Wizard.
  4. When you are prompted for the Product Identification, type the Windows Small Business Server 2003 product key.
  5. On the Component Selection page, under Action for Microsoft Exchange, click the drop-down list, and then click Change.
  6. Under Action for Microsoft Exchange Messaging and Collaboration Services, click the drop-down list, and then click Change.
  7. Under Action for the connector that you need to add, click the drop-down list, and then click Install.
  8. Click Next, and then follow the instructions.

Note

A connector is a component that enables information flow between two systems. By default, Windows Small Business Server 2003 Setup installs a Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) connector and the Microsoft Connector for POP3 Mailboxes. SMTP provides messaging connectivity between Exchange message systems, and the POP3 connector provides messaging connectivity for POP3 e-mail. To add additional connectors, use Exchange Setup.
