Checklist: Copying a virtual machine and virtual hard disk

Use the System Preparation tool (Sysprep) on the guest operating system to prepare the virtual hard disk for distribution.	See "Using virtual hard disks" in Ways to deploy an operating system to a virtual machine
Shut down the virtual machine that you want to copy.	Shut down a virtual machine

Add the copied virtual machine to Virtual Server.	Add a virtual machine from an existing configuration
If you want to modify the virtual machine's properties or add optional components such as a virtual SCSI adapter, additional virtual hard disks, or additional virtual network adapters, configure the virtual machine as needed.	Configure Virtual Machines

Guest operating system licenses are not included with Virtual Server. You must ensure that you are appropriately licensed for all operating systems and applications that you install on a virtual machine.
