Change the reply-to e-mail address for users
To set a different reply-to e-mail address for all users
To complete this procedure, you must be logged on as a member of the Domain Admins security group.
- Open Server Management. To open Server Management, click Start, and then click Server Management.
- In the console tree, double-click Advanced Management, and then double-click the name of your Exchange domain.
- Double-click Recipients, and then click Recipient Policies.
- In the details pane, right-click Default Policy, and then click Properties. The Default Policy Properties dialog box appears.
- Click the E-mail Addresses (Policy) tab.
- In the Type column, double-click the SMTP generation rule that you use for Internet e-mail (this is reflected in the Address column as @domain_name.com). The SMTP Address Properties dialog box appears.
There are multiple SMTP generation rules. Select the one that is bold and uppercase. - In the Address box, type the domain name that you want to use as the reply-to address for your Internet e-mail, and then click Apply to set the address.
When you type the domain name, include the @ symbol; for example, @contoso.com. - Click OK to return to the Default Policy Properties dialog box.
- If the SMTP generation rule you selected was not already the primary rule, click Set as Primary.
- Click OK to close the Default Policy Properties dialog box.
Note
You can also change the reply-to address for all users by running the Configure E-mail and Internet Connection Wizard and changing the domain name on the E-mail Domain Name page.
To change the reply-to e-mail address for a specific user
To complete this procedure, you must be logged on as a member of the Domain Admins security group.
- Open Server Management. To open Server Management, click Start, and then click Server Management.
- In the console tree, click Users.
- In the details pane, select the user whose reply-to e-mail address you want to change, and then click Change User Properties. The user's Properties dialog box appears.
- Click the E-mail Addresses tab, and then click New. The New E-mail Address dialog box appears.
- Select the connector for your e-mail address type (for example, SMTP), and then click OK. The Internet Address Properties dialog box appears.
- In the E-mail address box, type the domain name that you want to use as the reply-to address for this user, and then click OK to return to the user's Properties dialog box.
- Clear the Automatically update e-mail addresses based on recipient policy check box, and then click OK to close the user's Properties dialog box.
