Configure E-mail and Internet Connection Wizard

You can use the Configure E-mail and Internet Connection Wizard to configure Internet and e-mail settings on your server. You can also use the wizard to manage tasks such as configuring Web services, Internet connections, and firewall settings.

  • You can add or edit services that you want to allow through the firewall. For more information, see Add or Edit a Service.
  • You can choose one of three types of broadband connections to connect your server to the Internet. For more information, see Broadband Connection.
  • The Configure E-mail and Internet Connection Wizard supports either a broadband or a dial-up connection to the Internet. For more information, see Connection Type.
  • You can either select a defined dial-up connection or create a new one. For more information, see Dial-up Connection.
  • If the Configure E-mail and Internet Connection Wizard cannot detect the values of your network adapter, you need to enter the values to configure your broadband connection. For more information, see Direct Broadband Connection.
  • It is recommended that you use a firewall to secure your network from unauthorized access. For more information, see Firewall.
  • You can select the Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) connection that you use to connect to your Internet service provider (ISP). For more information, see PPPoE Connection.
  • To properly configure your Internet connection, you need to enter the IP addresses of the DNS servers at your ISP. For more information, see Router Connection.
  • If you enable the firewall on your server, you can use standard services, select additional services, and create custom services that are allowed through the firewall. For more information, see Services Configuration.
  • The Configure E-mail and Internet Connection Wizard can create a Web Services certificate signed by your server, or you can obtain your own certificate signed by a commercial certification authority (CA). For more information, see Web Server Certificate.
  • You can allow users to access either selected company Web site directories or the entire default company Web site. For more information, see Web Services Configuration.
