The Windows Server 2003 POP3 service is installed on this computer

Windows Small Business Server 2003 Setup cannot continue because the POP3 service component in Windows Server 2003 is not supported.

You must cancel Setup, remove the POP3 service, and then restart Setup.

Important

When you remove the POP3 service, users can no longer access the POP3 service to retrieve e-mail. However, the mail store will remain on the server in the POP3 Mailroot folder. The default location for the Mailroot folder is \Inetpub\Mailroot\Mailbox<EM>Domain<EM>UserMailbox.

To remove the POP3 service

  1. Request that users download e-mail from the POP3 service to their client computers.

  2. Click Start, point to Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.

  3. Click Add/Remove Windows Components.

  4. On the Windows Components page, under Components, clear the E-mail Services check box, click Next, and then follow the instructions.

Note

After installing Windows Small Business Server 2003, you can use Exchange as your e-mail server.
