Network ports used by Virtual Server

Virtual ServerĀ 2005 uses the following Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) network ports by default. You can change these defaults when installing Virtual Server:

  • 1024. This is the default network port used by the Administration Website.
  • 5900. This is the default network port used by the Virtual Machine Remote Control (VMRC) client. The network port is not opened until you enable the VMRC server. For instructions, see Configure Virtual Machine Remote Control.
  • 137 and 138. These are optional ports used by the VMRC client when Kerberos authentication is enabled for VMRC.

Virtual Server also uses TCP and User Datagram Protocol (UDP) port 88 for the KerberosĀ V5 ticket-granting authority.
