Add or remove a floppy disk

To add or remove a floppy disk

  1. Open the Administration Website.
  2. In the navigation pane, under Virtual Machines, point to Configure and then click the appropriate virtual machine.
  3. In Configuration for your virtual machine (in the lower part of the page), click Floppy drive.
  4. Change the Capture setting as appropriate, and then click OK. The following table describes the Capture settings.

    Setting Description

    No media

No media is defined for this virtual floppy drive. This is the default setting.

    Physical floppy drive

The virtual floppy drive uses the media in the physical floppy drive that is specified.

    Known floppy disks

The virtual floppy drive uses, as its media, the virtual floppy disk (.vfd) file that is specified. You can specify the fully qualified path to the virtual floppy disk or you can select the .vfd file from the Known floppy disks list.

noteNote
To perform this procedure, you must have the appropriate permissions. If you do not have the appropriate permissions, you will either receive an error message or you will not be able to view certain menu items and options described in this procedure. To change your permissions, contact your Virtual Server administrator. For more information, see Securing Virtual Server. For instructions on opening the Administration Website, see "Open the Administration Website" in Related Topics. Each virtual machine is configured with one floppy drive. This drive cannot be removed and no additional floppy drives can be added. Only one virtual machine at a time can access any physical floppy disk or a writable virtual floppy disk. However, multiple virtual machines can access a read-only virtual floppy disk simultaneously. On the Virtual Server Paths page, you can configure Virtual Server to display paths in selection lists. For instructions, see "Configuring Virtual Server search paths" in Related Topics.
