Summary

The Web proxy/caching infrastructure of an enterprise must be able to scale out as the enterprise grows and its needs increase. Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2000 not only scales out to meet enterprise demand, but scales out to meet this demand in a predictable, linear fashion. What follows is an explanation of the inner-workings of Cache Array Routing Protocol (CARP); the protocol implemented in ISA Server that enables high performance distributed caching and practically unlimited scale-out ability.

Included in this document:

  • The Benefits of Web Caching

  • Distributed Caching Algorithms

  • High-Performance Scale-Out Caching Enabled by CARP

  • Examining CARP in Depth
