View Applications in an Application Pool (IIS 7)

You might want to see all the applications assigned to a given application pool to verify that all applications are correctly assigned or to assess whether to move some applications to another application pool.

To view applications in an application pool

You can perform this procedure by using the user interface (UI), by running Appcmd.exe commands in a command-line window, by editing configuration files directly, or by writing WMI scripts.

User Interface

To use the UI

  1. Open IIS Manager. For information about opening IIS Manager, see Open IIS Manager (IIS 7).

  2. In the Connections pane, expand the server node and click Application Pools.

  3. On the Application Pools page, select the application pool whose applications that you want to view.

  4. In the Actions pane, click View Applications to display the Applications page, which lists the applications associated with the selected application pool.

Command Line

To view a list of applications in an application pool, use the following syntax:

**appcmd list app /apppool.name:**string

The variable string is the name of the application pool for which you want to view a list of applications. For example, to view a list of applications in an application pool named Marketing, type the following at the command prompt, and then press ENTER:

appcmd list app /apppool.name:Marketing
