Uninstall Network Load Balancing

To uninstall Network Load Balancing

  1. Log on as an administrator on the local computer.

    Important

    • If possible, you should avoid uninstalling Network Load Balancing. There is typically no need to uninstall this feature, and doing so might adversely affect the operation of other system components. Removing Network Load Balancing from the network adapter, as described in "Remove a host from a Network Load Balancing cluster" in Related Topics below is all that is needed to ensure that Network Load Balancing is not being used by the host.

    • If you do not follow these steps in the exact order shown, your network will experience IP address conflicts.

  2. Open Network Connections.

  3. Right-click the Local Area Connection on which Network Load Balancing is installed, and then click Properties.

  4. Click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and then click Properties.

  5. In the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties dialog box, remove the cluster's primary IP address. If the cluster's primary IP address is in the Advanced TCP/IP Settings dialog box, click Advanced.

  6. In the Advanced TCP/IP Settings dialog box, remove the cluster's primary IP address and any other cluster IP addresses that you might have entered here, and then click OK.

  7. In the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties dialog box, click OK.

  8. In the Local Area Connection Properties dialog box, click OK.

  9. Right-click the Local Area Connection on which Network Load Balancing is installed, and then click Properties.

  10. Click Network Load Balancing, and then click Uninstall.

Notes

  • To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Administrators group on the local computer, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority. If the computer is joined to a domain, members of the Domain Admins group might be able to perform this procedure. As a security best practice, consider using Run as to perform this procedure.

  • To open Network Connections, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Network Connections.
