Setting resource type properties

Using the resource type Properties dialog box, you can:

  • View or change the resource type display name. The display name is used to manage the resource type in the cluster administration tools.

  • View or change the description of the resource type.

  • View the nodes on which the resource type can run.

  • View or change the default poll intervals (in milliseconds) for resources of this type. The poll intervals are Looks Alive and Is Alive.

    The Looks Alive poll interval specifies how often the Cluster service checks the state of the resource to determine whether or not the resource appears to be active. You can use the default value for the resource type or specify a number in milliseconds.

    The Is Alive poll interval specifies how often the Cluster service checks whether the resource is active. You can use the default value for the resource type or specify a number in milliseconds.

  • View the type name of the resource type. The type name is used internally by APIs and resource dynamic-link libraries (DLLs).

  • View the DLL file that implements the behavior of this resource type.

  • View whether resources of this type can be used as a quorum resource. The only quorum-capable resource types currently provided by Microsoft are the Physical Disk, Majority Node Set, and Local Quorum resource types.
