Enable NFS Version

Enabling NFS version 3

  • Using the Windows interface

  • Using the command prompt

To enable NFS version 3 using the Windows interface

  1. Open Services for Network File System: click Start, point to AdministrativeTools, and then click Services for Network File System (NFS).

  2. If necessary, connect to the computer you want to manage.

  3. Right-click Server for NFS, and then click Properties.

  4. Click the Server Settings tab.

  5. Select the Enable NFS version 3 support check box, and then click Apply.

Important

These changes will not take effect until Server for NFS is restarted.

To enable NFS version 3 using the command prompt

  1. Open a command prompt with elevated privileges.

    1. Click Start, and then click All Programs.

    2. Point to Accessories, right-click the Command Prompt icon, and then click Run as administrator.

  2. At the command prompt, type:

nfsadmin server [\\remoteMachineName] config enablev3={yes | no}

Argument Description

ComputerName

The name of the computer you want to configure.

Important

These changes will not take effect until Server for NFS is restarted.

Note

To view the complete syntax for this command, at a command prompt, type:
nfsadmin server /?
NFS version 3 support is enabled by default.
