View External Transactions

Applies To: Windows Server 2008

Use this procedure to view Message Queuing external transactions.

You can use this procedure to view Message Queuing external transactions. Message Queuing uses the Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (DTC), installed by default with Windows 7 and the Windows Server 2008 R2 family, for implementing external transactions. You can use the Component Services snap-in to monitor statistics for transactional messages that are sent or received within external transactions and to monitor statistics for all transactions managed by the DTC.

When you monitor external transactions, the details pane opened by clicking Transaction Statistics in the console tree of the Component Services snap-in provides useful information about active, committed, and aborted transactions.

For more information about transactional messaging, see Additional references.

Membership in the local Users group, or equivalent, is the minimum required to complete this procedure.
