What problem are you having?

  • I received the "The local policy of this system does not permit you to logon interactively" error message, or I am unable to log on locally..

  • The runas command failed..

  • I cannot access the Computer Management extension snap-ins on a remote computer..

I received the "The local policy of this system does not permit you to logon interactively" error message, or I am unable to log on locally.

Cause:  The ability to log on locally to a computer is controlled by local security policy.

Solution:  Add the user account to the Users local group, or use the local security policy to assign the particular user or group the Allow log on locally right.

The runas command failed.

Cause:  The Secondary Logon service is not running.

Solution:  Start the Secondary Logon service.

I cannot access the Computer Management extension snap-ins on a remote computer.

Cause:  The Remote Registry service is not running on the remote computer.

Solution:  Ensure that the Remote Registry service is started on the remote computer. You need appropriate permissions on the remote computer to start the service.
