Windows Media Center Extender is a network-attached device that enables you to bring the Windows Media Center experience into any room of the house.

Windows Media Center Extender Connectivity

The Windows Media Center Extender connects to the Windows Media Center PC using UDP and TCP protocols.

Windows Media Center Extender Management

A Windows Media Center Extender can be uninstalled from the Windows Media Center PC if the Extender needs to be moved to a new Windows Media Center PC or to reset the Extender to the original default settings.

Disabling an Extender prevents it from connecting to the Windows Media Center PC, but maintains the association so that the Extender can be re-enabled and reconnected.

Enabling a disabled Extender allows it to reconnect to the Windows Media Center PC.

Windows Media Center Extender Media Library Setup

During setup, the Windows Media Center Extender is configured to use the same media files that are used on the Windows Media Center PC.

Windows Media Center Extender Security Negotiation

Certificates are exchanged between the Extender and the Windows Media Center PC to enable a secure connection.
