Aspects

The following is a list of all aspects that are part of this managed entity:

Name Description

WU Service Availability

Windows Update enables the detection, download, and installation of updates for Windows and other programs. If this service is disabled, users of this computer will not be able to use Windows Update or its automatic updating feature, and programs will not be able to use the Windows Update Agent API.

WUA Server Connectivity

The Windows Update Agent runs on client computers and must connect to either one of the following:

  • A Windows Update server running Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) on the corporate network.
  • The Windows Update/Microsoft Update (WU/MU) service publicly available from Microsoft.

If connectivity fails, the Windows Update Agent cannot communicate with the Windows Update server or to the WU/MU service.

WUA Update Detection

The Windows Update Agent Update Detection is designed to check for updates and install them on a daily basis. Windows Update Agent can be configured to detect and install updates automatically or can be set to detect updates and manually install them.

Windows Update Agent detects updates every day at user configured scheduled time or at 3:00 A.M. by default and installs them if Automatic Updates is turned on.

WUA Update Download

Windows Update Agent downloads updates from Windows Update, Microsoft Update, or Windows Server Update Services. Windows Update Agent can be configured to automatically detect and download updates or can be set to manually download updates by the user.

WUA Update Installation

Windows Update Agent installs updates from Windows Update, Microsoft Update, or Windows Server Update Services.

Windows Update Agent detects updates every day at the user configured time or by default at 3:00 A.M. If the computer is configured for Automatic Updates to take place, the downloading and installation of updates also take place at this time.
