Verify the Active Directory Installation

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

After you run the Active Directory Installation Wizard to install Active Directory, verify the Active Directory installation by performing the following tasks:

  1. Review the Windows Server 2003 event log and resolve any errors.

  2. At the command line, run Dcdiag.exe and review and resolve any errors that are reported.

  3. Run Task Manager and verify that the processor and memory system resources are within acceptable limits.

  4. Open the DNS snap-in, expand Forward Lookup Zones, and verify that the zones _msdcs.forest_root_domain_name and regional_domain_name are present.
