To install a program using Add or Remove Programs

  1. Log on to the terminal server as an administrator and close all programs.

  2. Open Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel.

  3. In Add or Remove Programs, click Add New Programs.

  4. Select the method to install the program and follow the instructions in the wizard.

  6. If applicable, edit and run the program installation script.

Notes

  • To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Administrators group on the local computer, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority. If the computer is joined to a domain, members of the Domain Admins group might be able to perform this procedure. As a security best practice, consider using Run as to perform this procedure. For more information, see Default local groups, Default groups, and Using Run as.

  • To open a Control Panel item, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click the appropriate icon.

  • If you are prompted to restart the computer to finish the installation, click Finish in Add or Remove Programs before accepting the prompt to restart the computer. It might be necessary to log on as the same user after the server has been rebooted in order to finish the application installation properly. Do not allow other users to log on before this step has been completed.

Information about functional differences

  • Your server might function differently based on the version and edition of the operating system that is installed, your account permissions, and your menu settings. For more information, see Viewing Help on the Web.
