Selecting Smart Card Hardware

Single smart cards and smart card readers are relatively inexpensive. However, when you deploy smart cards and smart card readers to hundreds or even thousands of users, equipment cost becomes an important consideration. You must evaluate smart card hardware in order to select the devices that best meet the needs of your organization at the best price.

Figure 16.3 shows the process for selecting smart card hardware.
