Enabling Newsfeeds

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1

Newsfeeds send articles between the IIS NNTP service and other NNTP servers. With newsfeeds, the articles that are posted to one server can be read by users of the other servers. Newsfeeds are not enabled by default.

To enable newsfeeds

  1. In IIS Manager, click the local computer, right-click the NNTP virtual server, and then click Properties.

  2. Click the Settings tab, select the Allow feed posting check box, and then do any of the following:

    • To limit the size of articles posted to this news site, select the **Limit post size (KB)**check box, and type or select the size (1 to 32,000 kilobytes) of the largest article that is accepted.

    • To limit the size of a newsfeed, select the **Limit connection size (MB)**check box, and type or select the size (1 to 4000 megabytes) of the largest newsfeed to accept.

    • To allow servers to pull articles from this news site, select the Allow servers to pull news articles from this servercheck box.
