Modifying default trigger values

The Message Queuing Triggers service has a set of default configuration values. You can modify these values after the service is installed by using the Computer Management snap-in.

Configuration information as well as the trigger and rule definitions are stored in the local registry.

You can modify any of the following configuration settings:

  • Initial number of threads. The default value is 5.

  • Maximum number of threads. The default value is 20.

  • Default message body size. The default value is 2048. This parameter is the size of the buffer that Message Queuing Triggers allocates for an incoming message. It is recommended that the value of this setting be sufficient for a buffer that can accommodate 90% of all messages that are expected to arrive at the monitored queue. An excessively low value will force the service to reallocate this buffer for every message that arrives with a larger message body. An excessively high value will waste resources.
