Modify the properties of a certificate

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

To modify the properties of a certificate

  1. Open the Certificates console for the user, computer, or service you want to manage.

    Tip

    For instructions on creating a Microsoft Management Console (MMC) that allows you to manage the certificates of a user account, computer account, or service account, see the appropriate article from the following list

  1. On the Action menu, click Properties.

  2. To change the friendly name of the certificate, in Friendly name, type the new name.

  3. To change the description of the certificate, in Description, type the new description.

  4. To enable all purposes for the certificate, based on the certificate type, in Certificate purposes, click Enable all purposes for this certificate.

  5. To disable all purposes for the certificate, in Certificate purposes, click Disable all purposes for this certificate.

  6. To designate specific purposes for the certificate, in Certificate purposes, click Enable only the following purposes and select the appropriate check boxes.

Note

  • If you are logged on as a user, you can only modify the properties of certificates in the Personal store.

  • To modify the properties of a certificate, double-click the certificate, click the Details tab, and then click Edit Properties.
