Page Details

Specify storage type

For instructions for using this wizard, see Recover a Backup Catalog.

You can use this page to specify where you want to recover the catalog from (either a local drive or remote shared folder), or you can choose to delete the catalog.

Select backup location

Use this page to choose the backup that you want to use to recover the catalog. Select the volume or drive from the drop-down list.

Specify remote folder

Use this page if you are recovering the catalog from a backup stored on a remote shared folder. Type the path to the shared folder.

Note

When you created the backup, the folders \WindowsImageBackup<ComputerName> were added to the shared folder. The backup is stored in <ComputerName>. However, you do not need to append the shared folder name with the added folders.

Confirmation

Review the choices that you made in the wizard. When you click Finish, the catalog will be recovered or deleted.

Summary

View the status of whether the catalog was successfully recovered or deleted.

Additional considerations

 • To recover a backup catalog using Windows Server Backup, you must be a member of the Backup Operators or Administrators group, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority. As a security best practice, consider using Run as to perform this procedure.

 • This wizard will only appear in Windows Server Backup if the backup catalog is corrupted.
