You must have the Windows Small Business Server 2003 Administration and Monitoring components installed.

To install Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2 Update Services, the Windows Small Business Server 2003 Administration and Monitoring components must be installed.

To install the Administration and Monitoring components, complete the following steps:

To complete this procedure, you may be prompted for your Windows Small Business Server 2003 installation media.
To install the Administration and Monitoring components
  1. Cancel Setup.

  2. Click Start, point to Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.

  3. In Add or Remove Programs, click Windows Small Business Server 2003, and then click Change/Remove.

  4. On the Welcome to Microsoft Small Business Server Setup page, click Next.

  5. On the Windows Configuration page, click Next.

  6. If Server Tools are not installed, choose Install in the Action column next to Server Tools. If Server Tools are installed, choose Maintenance in the Action column next to Server Tools.

  7. Select Install in the Action column next to Monitoring.

  8. Select Install in the Action column next to Administration.

  9. Click Next, accepting the defaults until the components have finished installing.

After you install the Administration and Monitoring components, rerun Setup.

If you do not want to install Update Services, but you want to install other components of the Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2 Technologies, click I acknowledge all warnings, and then continue Setup. Update Services will not be installed.
