To Change the RMS Proxy Settings

To perform this procedure, you must be logged on locally to the administration Web site with a domain user account that is a member of the Administrators group As a security best practice, consider using Run as to perform this procedure.

Changing the RMS Proxy Settings

To Change the RMS Proxy Settings

  1. Log onto a server as a member of the Administrators group that is in the cluster where the RMS proxy settings should be changed.

  2. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Windows RMS, and then click Windows RMS Administration to open the Global Administration page.

  3. Under Cluster Administration, click Security settings.

  4. If you have not previously used a proxy server with RMS, select the This computer uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet check box. Additional settings will appear on the page for you to complete.

  5. In the Address box, type the IP address or DNS name of the proxy server that you want to use.

  6. In the Port box, type the port number that the proxy server uses to connect to the Internet.

  7. If you do not use the proxy server to connect to local resources, select the Bypass proxy server for local addresses check box.

  8. If appropriate, select the This proxy server requires authentication check box.

    • Choose the authentication type from the list, either Basic, Digest, or Integrated Windows.

    • In User name, type the user name that should be supplied in response to the challenge from the proxy server.

    • In Password, type the password that should be supplied in response to the challenge from the proxy server.

    • In Confirm password, re-type the password supplied previously to verify that you typed it correctly.

    • If your proxy server uses Integrated Windows authentication, in Domain, type the domain to which the user belongs.

  9. Click Submit.
