Data Access Page Samples

(Updated April 24, 2000)

Download the Data Access Page Samples file (DAPs.exe).

The sample data access pages illustrate how you can build custom Web reports based on project data. Each of these pages may be modified and extended in Microsoft Access or directly by using scripting in an HTML editor.

Running the self-extracting file DAPs.exe will install three sample data access pages, in both standalone .htm format and in .asp format for use as Microsoft Project Central views. The three data access pages are:

  • Project Summary (based on the Project Summary report in Microsoft Project)

  • Task Outline View (similar to the Microsoft Project Task Sheet view)

  • Who Does What (based on the Microsoft Project Who Does What report)

A sample Microsoft Project file is also included to connect to these files.

For more information, see the Creating Additional Views in Microsoft Project Central section of the "Microsoft Project Central" resource kit article.

(Updated June 1, 2001)

Download the Microsoft Project Central Language Pack files.

Note   The Microsoft Project Central Language Packs must be installed on a machine that already has Microsoft Project Central Server installed. Important   Before installing the Language Packs, you must read the information in the Setup file. Then run the Windows Installer packages and install to the Microsoft Project Central Server.

The Windows Installer files PCSLPK_1.MSI, PCSLPK_2.MSI, and PCSLPK_3.MSI install the Microsoft Project Central Language Packs for the languages that you need on the Microsoft Project Central Server.

If you have installed Microsoft Project Central Service Release 1 (SR-1), you need to use the Windows Installer files PCSR1LP1.MSI, PCSR1LP2.MSI, and PCSR1LP3.MSI.

The Microsoft Project Central Language Packs include files for displaying the Microsoft Project Central user interface and online Help in different languages. Administrators can use the Language Packs for deploying a single version of Microsoft Project Central to all users regardless of their language-speaking area. Then you can customize the installation to include local language capabilities or allow users to select their own language settings.

Language Packs for the following languages are currently available:

  • PCSLPK_1.MSI and PCSR1LP1.MSI
German, French, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Korean

  • PCSLPK_2.MSI and PCSR1LP2.MSI
Swedish, Danish, Brazilian Portuguese, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Hebrew

  • PCSLPK_3.MSI and PCSR1LP3.MSI
    Dutch, Czech, Polish, Finnish, Norwegian

Master Views Script

(Updated April 24, 2000)

Download the Master Views Script (Views.exe).

This script allows you to create database views on a Microsoft Project 2000 database that have access to projects in all users' tables in the database. You can then give a single database user ID access to these views, and specify this database user ID and its password in Microsoft Project Central.

This will allow the Microsoft Project Central Server to access all users' projects in the Microsoft Project 2000 database and to display them in Microsoft Project Central views, using the permissions you have set up in Microsoft Project Central. However, individual users will only be able to update the projects in their database tables when they open or save projects in Microsoft Project 2000 or when they access the Microsoft Project 2000 database outside of Microsoft Project Central.

Important   The master views script only works against an SQL or MSDE database. You will need to create your own script for an Oracle database.Note   Running the self-extracting file Views.exe will install the script crtViews.sql on your computer.

For more information on what the master views script does and how to use it, see the Setting Up Views in Microsoft Project Central section of the "Microsoft Project Central" resource kit article.
