MS Windows 98 Customer Service Pack

The Windows 98 Customer Service Pack resolves known customer issues with the Windows 98 operating system.

Installation files are located in subdirectories in the \win98\win98sp1 directory. Please read the readme.txt files in each subdirectory before installing.

Contents of the Windows 98 Customer Service Pack

  • Windows 98 System Update 1 : Security fixes and hardware specific updates (\sysupd\w98csp.exe)

  • Windows 98 Year 2000 Update: Update for Outlook Express version 4.72.3612.1713 (\w98y2k.oe\234680.exe)

  • Windows 98 Year 2000 Update: The 1st Y2K update for Windows 98 users (\w98y2k\y2kw98.exe)

  • Windows 98 Year 2000 Update 2: The 2nd installment in the Y2K update (w98y2k_2\y2kw98_2.exe)

Installation notes

Before you install the Windows 98 Customer Service Pack

The Windows 98 Customer Service Pack updates your system files and requires you to restart your computer during installation. Make sure that you save and close all open documents and close all programs before installing the Service Pack.

Release notes

If you reinstall the Windows 98 operating system, you will lose the benefits of the Windows 98 Customer Service Pack. If you must reinstall Windows 98, make sure that you also reinstall the Windows 98 Customer Service Pack.
