Enable Hardened MSMQ Mode

You can use this procedure to enable hardened MSMQ mode. The purpose of Message Queuing in hardened MSMQ mode is to enhance the security of Message Queuing computers running on the Internet. Hardened MSMQ mode is intended to support scenarios that employ only HTTP messages.

Membership in the local Administrators group, or equivalent, is the minimum required to complete this procedure.

To enable hardened MSMQ mode

  1. Click Start, point to Run, type compmgmt.msc, and press ENTER to display the Computer Management MMC console.

  2. In the console tree, click Services and Applications.

  3. In the details pane, right-click Message Queuing, and then click Properties.

  4. On the Server Security tab, select Enable Hardened MSMQ mode to secure this computer on the Internet, and then click OK.

Additional Considerations

  • Following installation, hardened MSMQ mode is not enabled by default.

  • To reset server security settings on this tab to the default settings following installation, click Restore Defaults.
