Dial-up Networking Entry - Advanced Tab

When your computer is connected to a remote dial-up network, you can specify that your client computer is to become part of the DNS namespace of the remote network, and which DNS suffix you want to be part of registered DNS name of this client.

DNS suffix for this connection setting |
Specifies the DNS domain name that is appended to the client computer name to fully identify this computer on the remote network. Enter the name without a leading period. For example, if the computer is to be referred to as client1.example.com, then enter example.com in the text box. |
Register this connection's address in DNS |
Check this box if you want the client to register its name and address with the DNS server on the remote network. The DNS server must support the DNS dynamic update protocol. The name to be associated with this address and supplied to the DNS server is determined by the next setting. |
Use this connection's DNS suffix in DNS registration |
Select this check box if you want the client to supply the specified DNS suffix to the DNS server on the remote network to be associated with the IP address of this client computer. If the box is not checked, then the default DNS suffix of this client computer (as specified on the Computer Name tab of the System Properties dialog box) is the one supplied to the remote DNS server. |
