Change Settings for a Multimedia Device

Applies To: Windows Server 2008

You can use this procedure to configure device-specific properties of your multimedia device. Multimedia devices can include streaming audio or video devices, audio or video codecs, or Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) devices.

Membership in the local Administrators group, or equivalent, is the minimum required to complete this procedure.

To change the settings for a multimedia device

  1. Open Device Manager.

  2. Double-click Sound, video and game controllers.

  3. Right-click the device that you want, and then click Properties.

  4. Change the configurations that you want.

Additional considerations

  • The Properties button is enabled only if you have drivers other than Windows Driver Model (WDM) drivers on your computer. If the Properties button is not enabled, use the Resources tab to configure the device.
