Install Active Directory using an answer file

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

You can use this procedure to perform an unattended Active Directory installation by using an answer file.

Administrative credentials

To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Domain Admins group in the domain of the domain controller that you are installing.

To install Active Directory using an answer file

  1. Click Start, click Run, and then type **dcpromo /answer:**answerfile

    • Answerfile
      The path to the answer file, including the filename.
  2. Click OK.
