Description

Specifies the ID of the fax device that is set to manual answer mode. Only one device at a time can be set to manual answer mode. If the value of this entry is zero, then no devices are configured for manual answer mode.

If a fax device is configured for manual answer mode, then Fax Monitor displays an alert when the telephone line of the fax device is ringing, and gives the user the option of answering the call with Fax Monitor to receive a fax transmission.

Change Method

To configure a fax device for manual answer mode, click the Start menu, point to Settings, and then select Printers and Faxes. Right-click the name of the fax device, and then select Properties. Click the Devices tab, and then click Properties under the name of the fax-capable hardware (usually a modem). In the new window that opens (its title is the same as the name of the fax-capable hardware), on the Receive tab, click Manual under Answer Mode.

You can also change this entry by using the Fax application programming interface (API).

Activation Method

Changes made to this entry through Printers and Faxes, or through the Fax API, are effective immediately.
