Manage Devices by using Windows SBS Console

In the Windows SBS Console, on the Network tab, Devices displays a list of fax devices and printers. This tab also provides a set of administrative tasks to help you manage the devices on your network.

The following table lists the device tasks that are available in Windows SBS Console and their descriptions. Some of the tasks are device specific and are only visible when a device is selected.

Available device management tasks

Task Name Description

Add a shared printer to the network

Opens a Help topic that describes how to share a printer from a server or client computer or share a printer that is connected to a network hub.

List a shared printer in this console

Opens the Show shared printer in this console dialog box, which allows you to add the network path of the printer. As a result, the printer path is displayed in the Windows SBS Console.

How do I add a new fax device?

Opens a Help topic that describes how to add a fax device to your network.

Start the Fax service

Starts the fax service.

Note
If there is no fax device installed on the server, you are prompted to install a fax device.

Stop the fax service

Stops the fax service.

Configure the fax service

Starts the Configure the Fax Service Wizard.

If there is no fax device installed on the server, you are prompted to install a fax device.

Configure the Windows SBS Fax Administrators group

Opens the Fax User Properties page, and allows you to add or remove user accounts from the Windows SBS Fax Administrators group.

Configure the Windows SBS Fax User group

Opens the Fax User Properties page, and allows you to add or remove user accounts from the Windows SBS Fax Users group.

Refresh this view

Refreshes the Devices page.

Printer Jobs

Displays a list of print jobs for the selected printer.

Printer Properties

Displays the properties page.

Remove Printer

Removes the shared printer from the network.
