Set the Library Door and Port Time-out

Applies To: Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista

To complete this procedure, you need the appropriate administrative credentials for the affected Removable Storage item. To maintain system security, rather than logging on as an administrator, log on as a user without administrative credentials and then run Removable Storage with administrative credentials.

To run Removable Storage with administrative credentials

  1. Open a command prompt with administrative credentials. To do this, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then point to Run as administrator.

  2. Provide administrative credentials for an account in the Administrators group, and then click Submit. A command prompt with administrative credentials opens.

  3. At the command prompt, type mmc.exe.

Set the library door and port time-out

Set the time-out

  1. In Removable Storage, double-click Libraries.

  2. Right-click the applicable library, and then click Properties.

  3. In the dialog box, click the Components tab.

  4. Under Doors, in Time-out, enter a new value (if necessary) for the door time-out interval (in minutes).

  5. Under Ports, in Time-out, enter a new value (if necessary) for the inject/eject port time-out interval (in minutes).

This procedure applies only to automated libraries.
