Code 10: The device cannot start

Applies To: Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista

Device Manager displays the following message in the Device Properties dialog box, on the General tab, in the Device Status text box:

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

The device failed to start.

Try any of the following to resolve the problem:

  • Click Update Driver to update the drivers for this device.

  • Run an automated troubleshooting service from the Microsoft Support Web site (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=192795).

  • Contact the device manufacturer’s technical support for further assistance.
