Install a Non-Plug and Play Device

This topic provides a procedure that you can use to install a non-Plug and Play–compliant device in your computer.

Membership in the local Administrators group, or equivalent, is the minimum required to complete this procedure.

To install a non-Plug and Play device

  1. Open Device Manager.

  2. On the Action menu, click Add legacy hardware.

  3. In the Add Hardware Wizard, click Next, and then follow the instructions provided by the wizard.
