Code 36: This device is requesting a PCI interrupt but is configured for an ISA interrupt (or vice versa)

Updated: August 31, 2007

Applies To: Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista

Device Manager displays the following message in the Device Properties dialog box, on the General tab, in the Device Status text box:

This device is requesting a PCI interrupt but is configured for an ISA interrupt (or vice versa). Please use the computer's system setup program to reconfigure the interrupt for this device. (Code 36)

Interrupt request (IRQ) translation failed.

If available, use the basic input/output system (BIOS) setup tool to change settings for interrupt request (IRQ) reservations. The BIOS might have options to reserve specific IRQs for Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) or Industry Standard Architecture (ISA) devices. For more information about how to change BIOS settings, see the hardware documentation.
