Updated: January 21, 2005
Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2
To enable direct hosting of IPX
Open Network Connections.
Right-click a local area connection, and then click Properties.
In the list of installed components, clear the NWLink NetBIOS check box.
Client Service for NetWare is not available on 64-bit versions of Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP.
To open Network Connections, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Network Connections.
To enable direct hosting of IPX, you must first install the NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Compatible Transport Protocol (NWLink).
You must be a member of the Administrators group to enable direct hosting of IPX.
When you clear the NWLink NetBIOS check box, the component is disabled for all IPX interfaces. However, you can clear the NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Compatible Transport Protocol check box on a per-interface basis.

Your server might function differently based on the version and edition of the operating system that is installed, your account permissions, and your menu settings. For more information, see Viewing Help on the Web.
