The CurrentVersion subkey contains subkeys and entries that store Group Policy settings for components of Windows. The subkeys and entries in the CurrentVersion subkey are written and maintained by Group Policy, and they are read and interpreted by the component that implements them.
This subkey stores entries for policy settings that apply to all users of this computer. There is also a Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion subkey in HKEY_CURRENT_USER, which stores policy setting related entries that are configured separately for each user.
