Deploying Storage Manager for SANs

Applies To: Windows Server 2003 R2

After you install a Windows Server 2003 R2 operating system, use Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel to install the Storage Manager for SANs component.

To install Storage Manager for SANs, you must be logged on under an account that has administrative rights on the local computer and have the installation CD for Windows Server 2003 R2 available.

Important

You may need to restart your server after the installation of Storage Manager for SANs has completed. You should plan accordingly.

To install Storage Manager for SANs

  1. In Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs. Then click Add/Remove Windows Components.

  2. From the list of components, in the Windows Components Wizard dialog box, select Management and Monitoring Tools, and click Details.

  3. From the list of subcomponents, select Storage Manager for SANs, and then click OK.

  4. Click Next, and after the configuration of the new component has completed, click Finish.

Opening the Storage Manager for SANs snap-in

You administer the Storage Manager for SANs component through a Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in. To use Storage Manager for SANs, you must be logged on under an account that has administrative rights.

To open Storage Manager for SANs, in Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Storage Manager for SANs.
