Rolling back a security policy

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

You can use Security Configuration Wizard (SCW) to roll back a security policy after it is applied.

You are not limited to one rollback. However, to avoid administrative overhead, do not roll back a policy more often than you must. Make multiple changes during each SCW session, rather than running through SCW several times and creating a separate policy each time.

If, after you roll back a security policy, some services do not behave as expected, check whether services that were started manually were stopped. If you apply a security policy that disables manually-started services and then roll back this policy, those services might need to be restarted manually.
